BACKGROUND

Dr Hong graduated from medical school from National University of Singapore in 2010 and went through various rotations in different specialties in Singapore General Hospital, Changi General Hospital and Kandang Kerbau Women & Children Hospital gaining valuable experience in his training as a physician. Equipped with a diverse experience in different specialties in the hospital setting, Dr Hong decide to move on to the outpatient setting to further his training. He started working in the Polyclinic and discovered his passion to serve the community as a family doctor. In the Polyclinic, he gained important experience in the field of Family Medicine, in particular taking care of patients with complex medical conditions. Currently, Dr Hong is practising as a Family Physician in the private sector.

Driven by a keen interest in family medicine and a strong belief in holistic care for patients, he furthered his training in Family Medicine with College of Family Physician Singapore and attained the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine in 2014. Since then, he was also accredited by the Singapore Medical Council as a Registered Family Physician.

Apart from Family Medicine, Dr Hong also has a keen interest in Dermatology, in which he underwent further training in Dermatology with the National Skin Centre, attaining his Graduate Diploma in Family Practice Dermatology in 2017.

The COVID pandemic has affected everyone greatly and during this period, Dr Hong saw that many of his patients started to face mental health issues. He realized the importance of recognizing mental health as part of holistic care for his patient and is currently pursuing the Graduate Diploma in Mental Health.

Dr Hong chose to practise family medicine because he believes in holistic care and that every patient is unique with different social background and medical issues. Being a family physician allows him to get to know his patients well, and to him, that’s the beauty and joy of practising family medicine.
